Multiple-choice weighted points
MCQ points = (correct answers / 55) x 40
- Correct answers is the number of MCQ questions answered correctly.
The multiple-choice section contributes up to 40 composite points.
Free-response weighted points
SAQ + DBQ + LEQ weighted points
- SAQ is out of 9, DBQ is out of 7, and LEQ is out of 6.
The writing sections together contribute up to 60 composite points.
Composite estimate
Composite = MCQ + SAQ + DBQ + LEQ weighted points
- Composite is shown out of 100.
- Estimated AP score bands are unofficial.
The composite score is mapped to an estimated 1-5 practice range.

Common mistakes
Treating estimates as official
Actual AP score conversion can vary by exam form and year.
Entering SAQ question count
Enter total SAQ rubric points out of 9, not the number of completed questions.
Ignoring writing weight
DBQ and LEQ together are worth 40% of the exam, so writing practice can strongly affect the estimate.
Using outdated formats
Use the current 55 MCQ, 3 SAQ, DBQ, and LEQ structure for this calculator.
